The word socialist is the dirtiest of words in the US. So the sudden turn around by John McCain on economic policy, involving buying up of bad mortgages, can only be described as stunning. However, it's unworkable, since what would be deemed bad and what would be deemed affordable would be difficult to define as the economy changes.
