Holding Them To Account 22 ; Republicans Show Their True Fear-Mongering Lying Colours In 9/11 Tribute Video

Any doubt any of us may have had last night about true change being brought to the US and the World by the reelection of the Republicans in November through John McCain and Sarah Palin has evaporated.

We didn't see last night's 9/11 'tribute' video in the lead up to John McCain's main speech, if we had, this post would have come twelve-plus hours earlier.

They linked Iran to 9/11, a blatant lie anyone with a couple of brain cells to rub together would have realised.

They will do everything they can to get your vote, just like they did in 2004, they will scare you into voting for them through terrorist imagery, which is exactly what the above video was last night. They will convince you that the only way to stay safe is to elect the Republicans and the only way to ensure another attack is to vote Democrat.

The difference between now and 2004 is that people have realised what the GOP has been doing and come hell or high water, we're not going to let you get away with it again.

So congratulations to Keith Olbermann, who last night apologised on behalf of decent, reasonably minded people everywhere for how deeply inappropriate that video was, even though he had no control over it. The rest of the media seem to have said nothing, a Google search reveals just two mentions, on TVNEWSER and The Huffington Post.

Keith Olbermann has received a lot of criticism recently that he had "gone to far", but at moments like these he is vital. Where was Tom Brokaw and other 'loftier' reporters on this 9/11 video, did they find is acceptable? Did they choose not to analyse or even cover it?

War On Reality Part 80 ; CIA Takes Out A Trash Bombshell

A snugly dropped bombshell into the public domain on this weekend, just before Christmas, the CIA has taken out the trash.

Back when the 9/11 commission were requesting information to compile their very watery report in 2003, repeated requests were made to the CIA on interrogation of al-Qaeda suspects.

This footage is the same footage that was later revealed to exist, but was then reported to have been erased. So for about the eight-hundredth time in the last four years, public confidence in the CIA is shattered and the flawed commission report has another swiss cheese-like hole shot through it's authority which is big enough to fly a plane through.

Everyone's favourite booby-prize candidate, Rudy Giuliani may be painting himself as Mr 9/11, but the opinion of one 9/11 Commission Co-Chairman doesn't think so.

Thomas H. Kean, former New Jersey Governor and co-chair of the 9/11 commission has thrown his backing for President behind Senator John McCain.

The scene of this public endorsement wasn't a town hall, or on the steps of a courthouse, but at Boston's Logan Airport, the location that Flight 11 and Flight 175 departed from before crashing into the World Trade Center towers.

Rudy Giuliani couldn't be reached for comment, rumours that he might have been meeting the President to try and link the Boston Tea Party and the Civil War to 9/11 and al-Qaeda have remained speculation.

Tell The Truthiness ; But of course, since the Republicans held their convention in New York in 2004, with security the broad issue combined with their near constant invocation of 9/11, this event seems rather tame in comparison.

A leaked memo from testimony given by the former New York Mayor, Rudy Giuliani to the 9/11 commission shows that he lied about his knowledge of terrorism.

He is reported in the 9/11 commission memo to have not known about al-Qaeda until after the attacks and that "we had nothing like this".

But in a speech he made at Regent University he said he'd been "studying terrorism" for more than 30 years.

9/11 Truth Part 1 ; NIST Says Collapse Of Twin Towers Unexplainable

The National Institute for Standards and Technology has been made to admit that the collapse of the twin towers cannot, after a lengthy study, be explained.

A 10,000 page report has revealed also that the temperature of the steel would only have reached, at the most 500 degrees, nowhere near the 1000 degrees needed to weaken and further still from the 1,500 degrees needed to melt it.

So the ability of the towers to collapse at freefall speed is not possible because of the fire. The only other option that has yet to be fully investigated is a controlled demolition using explosives.

The NIST has no word on World Trade Center Building 7, which collapsed at 5.20pm, at freefall speed also, which had minor fire damage and was hit by far less debris from the falling towers than other buildings which remain standing to this day. The NIST promised to look at controlled demolition for Building 7 in August 2006, but has yet to report. When it does, we will let you know the results.

The above is a video about the warrantless wiretapping, it's not specifically about this case though.

The National Security Agency asked a telecommunications firm early in 2001 to take part in an illegal phone monitoring plan.

A former Qwest Communications International executive, charged with insider trading, claims the NSA approached his company in the last days of February 2001 to take part in the undercover plan.

When they declined, citing the worry that the scheme was illegal, he alleged later that the company lost contracts directly because it had refused to agree to what the NSA was asking it to do.

Tell The Truthiness ; Why did the NSA need to do this monitoring illegally? Why has the Bush administration maintained that warrantless wiretapping came out of 9/11, when clearly people were anxious to use it before? Who knows more than they are letting on? They probably don't recall though.

War On Reality Part 39 ; Is The Truth About 9/11 Breaking Cover?

The wikipedia entry for Flight 11 and Flight 77, which we are told crashed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon respectively nearly six years ago, has been altered.

The alteration says that although those flights took off before and after that day, on September 11th they were both NOT scheduled to fly.

Corroborating this fact are details of flights which are kept at the Bureau Of Transportation Statistics.

But now it gets very interesting, the alteration, which anyone can make on Wikipedia, has been traced back to a computer with an American Airlines IP address.

Tell The Truthiness ; Why is someone at American Airlines changing the details of what happened on that day? We've not been told the whole story, can someone from AA and BTS explain the most basic 'facts' and why they need alteration? What's being hidden, now is the time for questions, not ridicule.

Case On Secret Spying Dismissed Because Its A, Shhh, Secret

In a stunningly stupid example of the way domestic surveillence has extended post 9/11, the wiretapping case had been rejected on a technicality this evening.

In a nutshell, because wiretapping is supposed to be covert, you therefore cannot prove it goes on, they won't tell you outright, then you have nothing to bring a case against, because you have no evidence.

Yes, it's that simple, that stupid and that foolish. And yes, we're thinking that same thought as you.

Tell The Truthiness ; Perhaps Bush could class the whole of the War On Terror as covert, then if anyone does try to impeach him, or bring any legal action to his door, it will get thrown out because it was 'supposed to be our secret'. Really though, we shouldn't go putting ideas into his head.

War On Reality Part 19 ; Someone Must Believe The Words He Throws Out

In his 4th Of July speech, Mr Bush did just what you've come to expect him to, related the war in Iraq to another war, which had different intentions and was grounded to a different place in time.

He related the US war of independence to that of the invasion of Iraq, just like he's compared it to the second world war and all conflicts in between. He said the enemy being fought in Iraq was the same that attacked the US on 9/11 and for the same reasons.

The second world war would have happened if the US had got involved or not, indeed, it had been going for a while before they joined in. Its clear Iraq would still be pretty stable if the invasion hadn't happened, plus Saddam would not have launched WMDs, unless he bought them from us in the meantime.

Some of those attacking coalition (does it count as a coalition with just two parties?) forces are no doubt Iraq citizens who've had enough of the occupation and quite rightly just want their country back.

Ron Paul, 9/11 & Media Smears & Jeers

With Fox News smearing Ron Paul as nuts to suggest that 9/11 needs to be properly investigated (despite the fact more money was spent investigating the Columbia Shuttle Disaster and that evidence given by senior Bush officials, including the President was carried out in secret) and CNN taking the discussion to the 'adults talking' stage by asking how US Foreign policy may have fuelled the cause of 9/11 it seems the media has once again become polarised, with no happy medium. Not forgetting that gem of fair and balanced opinion, Elisabeth Hasselbeck on ABC's The View.



Fox News needs to be aware it is smearing and misreporting the possible future blueprint for Republican reinvention after the 'it's my way or no way' attitude of Bush and the last seven years of nightmares. CNN and other networks need to take on tough questions, like asking how foreign policy by the US can lead to blowback, be that 9/11 or something smaller.



History tells us everything is connected, no matter how big or small.

If, as some have said, 'there is no reasoning with terrorists, they're just nuts', extends worldwide then they must have been deaf and blind to the restarting of self-government by Northern Ireland a few weeks ago.

Maybe that ideology doesn't extend to the pre-9/11 definition of terrorist? Since 9/11, according to some, these people are out to get us no matter what we do, we have to take them out and it's that simple.

Perhaps if Fox was to get Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley in on this discussion the answers might be very telling.

War On Reality Part 4 ; The Wheels Fall Off The Bush Wagon

With the verdict in the Lewis 'Scooter' Libby trial sinking in to all those in Washington and up on Capitol Hill, other people in the White House, Senate and in the media have begun to talk openly about impeachment of the current administration.



Specifically, talk is rife of George W Bush's impeachement.

Post 9/11 and with the country feeling vunerable, strength and trust in the country's government was all the nation's citizens looked for, as any other country would expect it's elected members to fulfil that wish.

Instead, they played the card of 'we are safe', but then saying 'but we're not safe enough' , coupled with the lowering and quick raising of the terror alert threat, scaring people like shares or oil price changes.

The administration gave the impression of strength, but only achieved a hollow, smug swagger, strutting into Afghanistan then following up with the unconvincing, 'urgently' needed invasion of Iraq.

As for trust, well that vanished on 12th September 2001.

War On Reality Part 3 ; A Question That Demands Respect

The BBC has dragged it's heals on a developing story that's become viral on the internet these past few days.

A video was posted on YouTube, BBC footage from the afternoon of 9/11 showing reporter Jane Standley standing in front of the skyline of the World Trade Center site, claiming that Building 7 of the WTC complex had collapsed BEFORE it actually did at 1720 EST.

The BBC Editors Blog responded to this by saying they had lost the tapes of that days events and couldn't confirm the time discrepancy. Besides they added, confusion reigned supreme on that day (forgive us BBC, but you are the World's most respected news gathering organisation, isn't this just the sort of event you should excel in covering?)

They went further to distance themselves from being considered part of the conspiracy.

No, today a BBC News 24 (the BBC's 24 hour rolling news channel) video has been uploaded which has a datestamp clearly in the bottom left hand corner of the screen showing 2154 Greenwich Mean Time, meaning it was 1654 on the US East Coast, while the anchor, Gavin Esler announces the collapse of the Salomon Brothers Building ( World Trade Center Buliding 7).

Both videos have gone viral all over the internet and pressure on the BBC to give a correct and detailed answer to this is growing.

There are varied and numerous reports of foreknowledge of Building 7's imminent collapse, the most notable in the context of this story is CNN's anchor at the time, Aaron Brown who reported at 1615 EST that the building '' has collapsed or is collapsing''.

A full hour and five minutes before it fell and it was being announced to BBC and CNN?

We all know the policy of the US abroad, indeed against its own citizens at home come to that has been, at the least, questionable, since September 2001, but its now been cemented by comments by another superpower.

The US had, President Putin said, overstepped its borders in every way, seeking to impose its will on the world.

When your former enemy, lead by a former spy, decides to take a swipe at the way the US conducts itself in the World community, you know something's wrong.

When Russia starts having a go, calling the US out, then it's time for President Bush to take a long, hard look at the state his States are in, through his leadership.

2978 Dead Soldiers, 2973 Dead New Yorkers ; But Condi Thinks Its 'Worth It'

As the sun set on Baghdad tonight and any Westerner serious about safety was holed up in the secure 'green zone' the number of US troops killed in that country's war has reached 2978, making it five more than the 2973 killed in the 9/11 attacks.

Five years since 9/11 and the US still eyes any country that simply disagrees on its policy with strong suspicion and trepidation, usually suggesting that it's not serious about peace and adding another name to it's bulls-eye board.

Four years since the invasion of Iraq and car bombings continue, people are blown up if they dare to want to work for their own police force, US and allied forces are regarded with suspicion and with having an alterior motive. This wary regard was demonstrated by Christmas Day's storming and blowing up of a police station and the freeing of around a hundred members of the public taken hostage. The operation was a success, but why let a hundred people go missing before something is done?

Of course, Saddam Hussein will certainly be executed before the end of January after today's ruling, as a waiting game that has lasted several year will now run into 2007.

After January 2007, will things change, will the violence fall away, will another policy take centre stage?

Has the wait for President Bush's new Iraq direction in policy over the holidays been worth it?

Will it take another 2978 dead troops? Or 2973 dead citizens to convince Mr Bush that this is not the way?

The heavy handed option in this self-branded 'War On Terror', to invade and bomb to hell anyone who doesn't jump to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you has been a clear failure.

Will the possibility of the very old fashioned 'diplomacy' option make a resurgence on the international policy stage in the new year?

Roll on 2007, its clear there are 2978 reasons to try something, anything else Mr Bush, you owe them that.
