Healthy Competition ; MSNBC Beats CNN In October
For primetime during October, the place for politics is MSNBC, second-place wise, that is.
The latest ratings for the month show the GE owned cable channel beating CNN into third place for the first time.

Dan & Keith Return To TV! Bulging Discs & All
Considering the reference in a recent post to Sportsnight, inspired by SportsCenter and the pairing of Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann, this news is rather eerie.
Dan and Keith are to reunite on TV to host NBC's Football Night In America.
Tell The Truthiness ; As a taster to those who don't know the magic of the pairing we've posted a recent Letterman interview with the two.

Some insight into how McCain may campaign against Obama.
But doesn't this interview show Mrs McCain saying that this will not be a negative campaign?
Tell The Truthiness ; So, what is McCain planning on doing?

War On Reality Part 39 ; Is The Truth About 9/11 Breaking Cover?

The wikipedia entry for Flight 11 and Flight 77, which we are told crashed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon respectively nearly six years ago, has been altered.
The alteration says that although those flights took off before and after that day, on September 11th they were both NOT scheduled to fly.
Corroborating this fact are details of flights which are kept at the Bureau Of Transportation Statistics.
Click here and look for yourself.
But now it gets very interesting, the alteration, which anyone can make on Wikipedia, has been traced back to a computer with an American Airlines IP address.
Tell The Truthiness ; Why is someone at American Airlines changing the details of what happened on that day? We've not been told the whole story, can someone from AA and BTS explain the most basic 'facts' and why they need alteration? What's being hidden, now is the time for questions, not ridicule.

Keith Olbermann Special Comment Tonight On MSNBC

For those of our visitors who live in North America, or anywhere else that can receive the MSNBC channel, there's going to be a Special Comment on Countdown With Keith Olbermann on MSNBC tonight at 8pm Eastern Daylight Time.
Some may say we are not presenting a balanced view of news by posting video's of Mr Olbermann's Special Comments. But we are not a real news site, we do not claim to be a national news source, most of which are nowhere near as 'fair and balanced' as they claim. As a result these videos and the opinion of this site sets out to redress that balance which has swung since 2001 and 9/11 hugely in favour of Mr Bush's administration and does not hold them to account.
Those of you who have never seen one of these Special Comments, here's his best:
Tell The Truthiness ; We'll post part of the transcript up later, when it becomes available on MSNBC's News Hole website.

Dragnet Treatment For Senator Craig
Despite the unprofessional conduct of some of the newscasters at MSNBC, see our previous blog for that episode, we still endorse Keith Olbermann's Countdown programme, giving the news the perfect satirical treatment with this gem.
Keep in mind while you watch this that the words of the police report have not been changed, which begs the question, how much more is Sentaor Larry Craig not revealing?
Tell The Truthiness ; Senator, the floor is yours, speak up!

Its Getting Hot In Here ; Take Off All Your Responsibility
We know this is directly from The NewsHole website, but....
Hands up all those going on summer holiday....

And hands up all those who are not off on holiday today...

Tell The Truthiness ; It's awfully hot in Baghdad, it must effect your judgement, if only the White House could use the weather excuse.

War On Reality Part 19 ; Someone Must Believe The Words He Throws Out

In his 4th Of July speech, Mr Bush did just what you've come to expect him to, related the war in Iraq to another war, which had different intentions and was grounded to a different place in time.
He related the US war of independence to that of the invasion of Iraq, just like he's compared it to the second world war and all conflicts in between. He said the enemy being fought in Iraq was the same that attacked the US on 9/11 and for the same reasons.
The second world war would have happened if the US had got involved or not, indeed, it had been going for a while before they joined in. Its clear Iraq would still be pretty stable if the invasion hadn't happened, plus Saddam would not have launched WMDs, unless he bought them from us in the meantime.
Some of those attacking coalition (does it count as a coalition with just two parties?) forces are no doubt Iraq citizens who've had enough of the occupation and quite rightly just want their country back.
Tell The Truthiness ; If five years of a war is not 'early' to exit it, then what do you deem a short war Mr Bush, twenty years?

War On Reality Part 18 ; Power & Responsibility On Bush's Watch, He's Caught Out, Now Get Out
Enough is enough, the one piece that was given in karma-like opposite to all that Bush and his cohorts have gotten away with, has been reversed.
Scooter Libby is getting a pardon, in all but word, though it means the same thing. There have been reports that the machiavellian shadowman, Dick Cheney, made a deal with Libby before the trial even started to assure him that he would not serve prison time.
Tell The Truthiness ; If the leadership of this once great country carries on, even until the next election, it will damage democracy at home and abroad which may never be repaired. You cannot wield all the power and take none of the responsibility, things don't work like that.

War On Reality Part 9 ; Vote Democrat & Die
As reported yesterday, Rudy Giuliani used the politics of fear in an effort to terrorise the electorate into voting Republican in the 2008 election.
Late after the last posted was uploaded, Keith Olbermann on his MSNBC Countdown show finished with a Special Comment in which he calls Mr Giuliani to account for using terrorism tactics on US voters.
Here is his Special Comment
The Truthiness Blog Says ; When you scare people into thinking something, you can get them to do (and vote for) almost anything. Mr Giuliani has simply scraped further down in the bottom of the barrel than anyone else before him.

42 Words And Several Dozen More We Should Have Checked First

The truthiness blog has to make corrections to the previous story headlined here last night, as corrected by 'Anonymous' that the comparison Ms Rice made was the post war reconstruction situation in Iraq and that in Germany.
Plus the resolutions made for the Declaration of War vs. Authorization for Use of Force in these two very separate conflicts.
But there is one thing we have to uphold here, our stupidness is our own, and not due to being misinformed by Keith Olbermann's MSNBC Countdown. Our inability to understand the story fully is why we got it wrong and not due to listening to an anchorman reporting the news.
Indeed, 'but you get your news from Olbermann' as Anonymous says, we do, but we also get our news from around a half a dozen other sources.
Lets hope you keep things fair and balanced by going after those who only get their 'news' from Fox News.
To paraphrase, 'idiots'.
The truthiness blog says ; We're just excited someone's left a comment!

42 Words Secretary Rice Should Have Thought Twice About Saying
Yes, Secretary Of State, Condoleezza Rice compared Hitler to Saddam Hussein.
Yes, she did and yeah, we're thinking the same as you.
Hitler invaded most of Europe, sent millions of people to their death, tried to get rid of an entire race of people, supressed free speech and killed himself.
Saddam tried to invade his neighbour, failed, retreated, then was LEFT, LEFT by the US and UK for thirteen years, contained by sanctions, with the UN keeping a continuing eye on him and his gradual running down of his country, while at the same time persecuting of his own people, then we decided to take him out on a false justification, wrapping the flag of nation building around our action as the truth came to light.
The Truthiness Blog Says ; Miss Rice, there is no comparison between the two, the only similarity being the wide gulf between your take on reality and the actual one the rest of the World inhabits.
Your reality stands on a huge, unstable foundation of truthiness.

War On Reality ; Part 1
While making an unannounced visit to Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan, a bomb, large enough to kill 20 people, including 2 US Servicemen exploded. The visitor was Vice President Dick Cheney, he had the stupidity to say '' remain calm, all's well''.
This seems to be happening more and more often, a few weeks ago Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki was stood on the steps of a government building, surrounded on all sides by security staff, guys tall enough and big enough to block out the light, while he read a statement. An explosion made all the staff round him turn their heads in shock, the PM carried on, not flinching at all and sticking to the script.
When the President and Vice-President say things are fine in Iraq ; but the Iraqi PM has got so use to the lawlessness that he doesn't even flinch, you know that someone isn't living in the same reality as everyone else.
The Truthiness Blog Says ; Take the pieces of cheese out your ears and listen to the bombs going off.
