Yesterday's British withdrawal of troops from Basra Palace to a base at the airport has been defended as "not a defeat" by most of the UK government and anyone who's been asked from the Ministry Of Defence.

But for many, the very action of removing these troops shows that the pull-out of the vast majority of UK forces is in "all but word" a defeat.

A former Foreign Office offical said there has been no coalition control over Southern Iraq for two and a half years.

Past the obvious onair spate between Rosie and Elisabeth on ABC's The View, which came to the fore this week, there's an underlying factor to this.

The discussion was about Iraq and whether we paint a whole group of people we just don't like as 'evil' and lump them as 'terrorists'. So actually, this discussion was vital to national debate, since it seems to be clearly missing from the main national networks and is only found shunted to late night comedy shows like The Daily Show and Real Time.



Tell The Truthiness ; However much you may side with Rosie or Elisabeth on the personal spate, this discussion needs to break into the mainstream media and become a daily occurence for the sake of raising the level of debate and holding government to account on the failed and deceitful Iraq invasion.

War On Reality ; Part 1

While making an unannounced visit to Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan, a bomb, large enough to kill 20 people, including 2 US Servicemen exploded. The visitor was Vice President Dick Cheney, he had the stupidity to say '' remain calm, all's well''.

This seems to be happening more and more often, a few weeks ago Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki was stood on the steps of a government building, surrounded on all sides by security staff, guys tall enough and big enough to block out the light, while he read a statement. An explosion made all the staff round him turn their heads in shock, the PM carried on, not flinching at all and sticking to the script.

When the President and Vice-President say things are fine in Iraq ; but the Iraqi PM has got so use to the lawlessness that he doesn't even flinch, you know that someone isn't living in the same reality as everyone else.
