War On Reality Part 49 ; Baghdad Is Safe, But Stay Inside The Resort

Yesterday, travel by anyone who's not military personnel outside of the Green Zone in Baghdad was suspended following the alleged killing of Iraqi citizens by US security firm Blackwater.

Blackwater is a private security firm employed in Baghdad by the US Embassy to protect employees. Two other companies carry out similar duties.

The amount of employees of Blackwater and the other firms is huge, representing massive contracts and millions of dollars to earn.

Tell The Truthiness ; This war, among other things, was all about the money.

PS - If you're anti-war and happen to live in Baghdad, make sure if you do get fatally shot it hits you in the back of the head, because then that will count in the casualty figures.

Is Mr Maliki More Reality Based Than Mr Bush?

In his response to the report about Iraq progress, Nouri al-Maliki seemed to pull a rabbit out of his hat about the missed benchmarks.

He said that if coalition forces decided to leave the country, Iraq troops could fill the role "at any time".

Despite this, none of the targets set in the report got met.

Iraq Terror Threat Level Raised To Severe/Cheney

Visits by Dick Cheney to Baghdad seem to be as frequent as senior weekend coach trips to Vegas.

The only difference is that each time the Vice-President pops into the green zone something nearby seems to explode pretty loudly. The President meanwhile, was saying how we shouldn't expect zero violence to be what defines victory in Baghdad.

Here, Senator McCain asks the question we all have been wondering, is Cheney a little Cuckoo?



To Tell The Truthiness ; If Cheney suspended visits and stuck to meglomania tours of the homeland then violence would be certain to be reduced.

Iraqi Parliament Picks Up The Pieces

The suicide bomb attack on the Iraq Parliament building inside the heavliy protected Green Zone in Baghdad shows that no-where at all in the Iraqi capital is safe.

Previously, with all the mayhem taking place outside of it's walls, the area containing US military headquarters, embassies and other politcal installations, it provided a break to all that an allowed the governing of Iraq to continue without incident.

All that went into history as a bomb exploded near the cafeteria just as ministers and staff were breaking for lunch on Thursday.
