Switching Off The Fluff & Switching On The Race, Networks Coverage Wins

An interesting piece here about the huge upturn in viewers for the primary season. It's from Entertainment Weekly, but it's a really good piece.

Tell The Truthiness ; Who said politics wasn't gripping?

Saunter To The White House 91 ; See Hillary Clinton's Speech Ending Her Campaign, Endorsing Obama

Here is the video of Hillary Clinton's speech from yesterday lunchtime.

Tell The Truthiness ; All in all, a heartfelt speech, which was everything it needed to be and ultimately was.

Saunter To The White House 87 ; Obama Countdown - 14.5 Delegates

Barack Obama needs just 14.5 delegates and/or superdelegates to gain the required number for the Democratic nomination for President.

Tell The Truthiness ; At this rate, Montana and South Dakota's delegates won't be needed.

Saunter To The White House 81 ; Obama Countdown - Needs 32.5 delegates

After the latest endorsements by Ohio House Democratic Leader Joyce Beatty and Maine superdelegate Jennifer Dechant, Barack Obama now needs 32.5 delegate and/or superdelegates to get the required number.

Tell The Truthiness ; Who is the 0.5 and are they less functional than other members of the DNC, because they're half?

Saunter To The White House 74 ; 7 Days Left, What's In Store?

Just seven days is the duration left before the primary season ends for the Democrats.

June 3rd is the date that Howard Dean said he wanted to see the nomination contest finish.

Tell The Truthiness ; Over a year has been a long contest, but a week is a long time in politics and who knows just what these next seven days will reveal... if only Hillary had a flux capacitor and a DeLorean.

Saunter To The White House 73 ; Obama Plans The Endgame With Superdelegates

With the primaries entering the last three contests, Barack Obama is lining up endorsements from superdelegates from those states to bring the nomination to a close.

Tell The Truthiness ; What is Hillary Clinton going to do and how is she going to do it? A dignified speech or a last grasp at power?

Saunter To The White House 72 ; Obama 'Too Many Supporters' To Be Proccessed

The Federal Election Commission is struggling to cope with the number of supporters that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that have donated money to the campaigns.

A sense of how big and different the Obama campaign is and has been was shown when their fundraising report wasn't able to be processed by the 'off-the-shelf' applications such as Microsoft Excel.

Tell The Truthiness ; An amazing case where the current governments functions and methods of operation are being made outdated by the future government. We are seeing history in the making.

Saunter To The White House 71 ; Clinton's Assassination Reference, The End For Her?

Hillary Clinton has got herself into a bottomless pit by invoking the notion that 'anything can happen' including the assassination of a candidate the race for nomination.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama's campaign and the certainty of his nomination has become clearer with him gaining five superdelegates, while Hillary Clinton lost one.

Tell The Truthiness ; When is someone in the Hillary Clinton camp going to step-up and tell her it's over?

Saunter To The White House 70 ; 65 Is The Magic Number

65 delegates is the number that Barack Obama needs to reach the 2,026 to get the democratic nomination for President after last night's primaries.

Yes Clinton won Kentucky, as everyone expected, but the number of delegates she got, once again for her, are practically pointless.

Tell The Truthiness ; 65 delegates, that's all it takes and Puerto Rico's next.

Senator Ted Kennedy Has Malignant Brain Tumour

Such terrible news for a man who is the nearest person US politics has to a founding father.

Here he is in fine form in January with the Kennedy's Obama endorsement and that almost prophetic phrase, "I feel CHANGE in the air, what about you?!"

We are thinking of you Ted.

Saunter To The White House 69 ; Teetering On The Brink Of Certainty

Today, it's predicted that Barack Obama will get a majority of pledged delegates in this long race to the democratic nomination.

Oregon is expected to go heavily for Obama, while Kentucky goes for Clinton. But the number count for Obama will not yet hit the nomination number.

Tell The Truthiness ; How close will Obama get to the number and how much more a hint does Clinton need? Perhaps 80,000 hints?

Here's an interesting analysis of the reasons Barack Obama fought so well against Hillary Clinton and is now certainly the nominee.

Tell The Truthiness ; How will the results in West Virginia today reflect his presumptive nominee status?

Tell The Truthiness ; How's this money going to be repaid?

Saunter To The White House 59 ; Hillary Gets SNL-ed

Here is last night's Saturday Night Live take on the latest doings in the democratic campaign for nominee.

Tell The Truthiness ; Amy Poehler's impression has to keep going for a while, regardless of when she drops out of the race. This impression is just gold!

Saunter To The White House 48 ; Harry Reid Talks Intervention In Dem Primary

It's been said earlier, but it's been made more clear just yesterday by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. It's certain that there will intervention in the Democratic Presidential process if there is no 2,025 delegate winner.

He outlined that a series of letters would be sent to superdelegates to urge them to make their endorsements public. Howard Dean has made comments also, but Nancy Pelosi has remained quiet on the subject. But she has commented that the will of the delegates shouldn't be overturned by the superdelegates.

Tell The Truthiness ; As Mr Reid said, this might not be needed, if Obama gets the delegates, which looks more than likely.

Saunter To The White House 46 ; Is This Hillary's Last Chance, Again?

Today looks set to be a rather exciting day in the democratic race for the presidential nominee. But it still doesn't seal the deal for either candidate.

Tell The Truthiness ; We'll see if that's the case later on...

Saunter To The White House 39 ; Bill Rails On Superdelegates At Private Meeting

We've all seen Bill Clinton getting rather forceful on the campaign trail. At the start of the year, when things weren't going Hillary Clinton's way, much blame was placed at the door of whoever thought it would be a winner to keep wheeling Bill out. That wasn't the media saying that, that was Hillary's own campaign. Hence for a few days afterwards the two-term President was no-where to be seen.

But now, the wrath of Bill has been spent on a meeting of superdelegates in California. Behind closed doors, he ripped into the press, the delegates and was incensed at Bill Richardson's endorsement of Barack Obama.

Tell The Truthiness ; Who is running for President, Bill or Hillary?

Debates Done & Dusted ; Last Round Starts

No-one, again, seemed to emerge blinking into the warm glow of 'winning' after last night's debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

They discussed their healthcare plans at rather dull length for sixteen minutes. They both said how much they respect the other, before making it clear they thought themselves were the best for the job. Plus, the difficult-for-Clinton issue of NAFTA came up. Meanwhile Obama went on about his ability to bring people together.

Tell The Truthiness ; As nice and needed as debates are, enough about them and come on Ohio and Texas!

Saunter To The White House 1 ; For Obama, It's Sofa-So Good

Today Truthiness launches a new coverage segment called ' Saunter To The White House'. As we all know, the election isn't until November next year, so since there is so little to stretch so thinly, we've called it saunter, as anyone who plans to run the whole way will drop dead before Halloween.

So kicking things off is Barack Obama's, Oprah Winfrey backed fundraiser this weekend. Winfrey invited 1500 guests to raise an expected $3 million for the Presidential candidate.

Tell The Truthiness ; Could this just be the sort of high-profile backing that Obama needs to keep pace with Hillary Clinton?
