Truthiness Teller Colbert AP's Celebrity Of The Year

He may have suffered a faltering attempt to stand for President and be off air while the writer's strike drags on, but the father of twenty-first century news comment has been acclaimed.

Stephen Colbert has been named by the Associated Press as their Celebrity of the Year.

The man who speaks not his mind, but his gut on all things news, has done it again.

Tell The Truthiness ; A merry American Christmas to our celebrity of the year, Stephen Colbert.

Nation, you know you should be bowing in honour.

Hostage Situation At Clinton Campaign Office Over

The last hostage in the Rochester, New Hampshire situation has been released.

A few minutes later, the suspect stepped outside, into the middle of the street. Surrounded by a SWAT team, the man, dressed in smart trousers, a white shirt and red tie, took off the 'bomb' he claimed to have, before being taken into custody.

The suspect was known to the local police in Rochester.

No-one has been hurt and the hostages are ok. Congratulations to Rochester police department and all authorities concerned.

That's how it should be done.

War On Reality Part 69 ; Who Ya Gonna Elect?

More people believe in ghosts and UFOs than in what President Bush is doing for the US.

34 percent of those polled by AP/Ipsos believe in ghosts and UFOs.

Meanwhile, 31 percent of the same people believe in President Bush's direction for the country.

Tell The Truthiness ; Where were the nutty people who were polled and gave this unbelievable answer? Show us the people who believe in Bush's policies, bring them forth and we'll put them inside the containment unit.

Paris Blackout Fails ; News Bombers Hit Target

They tried, we tried, even CNN tried (and you know how entertainment stories are as common as muck on that network) but they all failed.

It wasn't a news embargo on a sensitive new leg of the US government's Iraq strategy (using strategy in the most loose of its meaning), ooh no.

It was a self-emposed news blackout on stories to do with Paris Hilton.

The girl got caught infringing a traffic law and the AP didn't report the story. Until now that is.

The AP held out for a week, then like a smoker standing round a group of indulgent nicotine happy friends, it breathed deeply for a long-self satisfying drag at 0924 this morning and told us all what it had (or more accurately, hadn't been) getting up to.

Reaction to the blackout was mostly positive, people for a shortwhile forgot who she was and went back to living their own lives and had a margin of concern for people dying in dangerous spots round the World.
