Saunter To The White House 112 ; McCain Doesn't Know How Many Houses He Has Or What Car He Drives
That's right, apart from the discussion that John McCain doesn't know how many homes he owns, he doesn't know what type of car he drives.
The answer to the first one is about eleven.
The answer to the second one is a Cadillac CTS.
Tell The Truthiness Says ; Tomorrow Wolf Blitzer is going to be asking McCain what's in his fridge in a new CNN feature.

Hostage Situation At Clinton Campaign Office Over

The last hostage in the Rochester, New Hampshire situation has been released.
A few minutes later, the suspect stepped outside, into the middle of the street. Surrounded by a SWAT team, the man, dressed in smart trousers, a white shirt and red tie, took off the 'bomb' he claimed to have, before being taken into custody.
The suspect was known to the local police in Rochester.
No-one has been hurt and the hostages are ok. Congratulations to Rochester police department and all authorities concerned.
That's how it should be done.

Clinton Hostage Situation : 9

With one of the original four hostages being held, details have come out about the protagonist in this.
Earlier today he visited a hardware store and purchased several items. Some of these are believed to be strapped to his chest. The son of the man is reported to have been told by him, earlier in the day, to watch the news.

Someone's offering a thousand dollars for video of the hostage situation on Craig's List
It seems that the police are keeping a good lid on film of the event. Hopefully no-one will have anything worth the money.

Tom Brokaw : Iraq "Progress" Needs To Be Looked At

Speaking in a CNN Reliable Sources interview today, Tom Brokaw gave his take on the state of Iraq. He also touched on many other areas when talking to Howard Kurtz.
You can watch that interview here.
He also gave some interesting analysis when asked about the criticism leveled toward Katie Couric.
Tell The Truthiness ; Proof that an interview doesn't have to be inflammatory to be revealing.

Is There Anything He Doesn't Say?
You might think he just keeps talking in the hope that someone listens, but this time he really has wadded into the debate on torture, in a big way.
We don't a video of this, but here's the Daily Show's take on the word game the government is playing.
Former President Jimmy Carter has said (ok, he is promoting his book, so we take that he's in the news at all, for any reason, as a given) he is convinced the US is involved in torture that breaks international law and said President Bush has created his administration's own definitions of torture and human rights to allow them to get away with it.
When questioned on CNN Mr Carter said he doesn't "think" he "knows" Bush's government tortures.
The White House continued to hold the line that "we do not torture".
Tell The Truthiness ; Keep saying it and eventually Bush will deny it was ever said, remember like "stay the course"?

War On Reality Part 33 ; Bill Maher Hits The Nail
Summing it up all in one quick phrase,
" People lined up in Manhatten to get the iPhone when it came out, but they won't line up to protest the war in Iraq along the Mall in Washington."
That quote from Bill Maher on CNN's Larry King Live, repeated this evening from last Tuesday.

War On Reality Part 30 ; We Don't Recall Having Any Respect For You For A Long Time
The ability to not recall any past events on Capitol Hill seems to be spreading from the Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to the Vice President Dick Cheney.
When asked by CNN's Larry King, Mr Cheney cannot recall authorising the hospital bed visit to John Ashcroft to push him to certify the intelligence gathering programme.
Tell The Truthiness ; 'I don't recall' is as worse than saying 'yes', have some guts Mr Cheney, if not, borrow some from Mr Chertoff, he's got plenty of guts (with feelings) to spare.
