War On Reality Part 42 ; We Still Have To Stay, Not Sure For How Long

Petraeus and Crocker are able to tell us a lot about Iraq. Like, according to them, the surge has begun to work, but we need to stay there longer to make sure it stays that way.

Despite this urgent need, he did say forces can begin coming back down to pre-surge levels, giving detailed numbers about this.

They were able to tell us about casualty rates, rolling averages, percentage changes, etc. All the numbers games you can ever hope to play.

However they cannot give us timetables, dates or gurantees about when any change in this false and needless war can happen.

Tell The Truthiness ; How can you be so certain about our need to remain in the country, because you say things are getting better, yet not be able to know when forces can leave?

Bush Promises To Keep Iraq Policy On Mars With It's Fingers In Its Ears

Today President Bush is expected to veto the war funding bill when it is presented to him by Congress.

He has however assured us that he DOES want to work with both Republicans and Democrats to come up with something that we all agree on in a 'positive' way.

There's been little positive coming out of Iraq recently, with even the news that eight out of seven reconstruction projects have failed. Many have been done to a substandard, with clinical waste possibly contaminating local water supplies in one case.

Where infrastructure projects are attacked, the number of these attacks has gone down. However those attacks which still take place cause more damage and are more disruptive. So it's almost six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Winning or losing in Iraq is no longer relevant or helpful, it comes, whether its today or yet further ahead in the future, down to giving power to deal with their own affairs to Iraq. We can put it off for as long as President Bush likes, but the current policy just isn't working.

What Were You Doing During The State Of The Union Daddy?

After President Bush's State Of The Union last night, it's clear that most people didn't watch the speech, all over the country and the World people greeted his speech in varying ways, but one thing linked them; no-one could sit still.

In Iraq , people did watch, afterwards they said it was the best piece of fiction since the premiere episode of NBC's smash-hit 'Heroes'.

In the UK, due to the time difference, those who did watch were mostly drunk or insomniacs. Once the country woke up, they mostly just tut-tutted and said ''those batty Americans''.

On Capitol Hill, Senator McCain fell asleep, Speaker Pelosi refused to applaud and stand during Iraq troop increase announcements and Vice-President Dick Cheney decided to get out his mobile phone and do a little texting.
